In a sociopolitical context where public expression is increasingly restricted, the voices of immigrant communities are often silenced. In response, artist Maria Trabulo, in collaboration with immigrant communities in Braga (Portugal), seeks to amplify their narratives by exploring the dynamics of welcome and resistance that shape their presence in the city. Language—both written and spoken—emerges as an affective and political space carried by immigrants, serving as a bridge to their homelands and a testament to their identities. Her work, titled "The voice got in there", creates a living archive of languages and written memories from these communities, enhancing cultural diversity and asserting their place in the city's collective consciousness.
