Art Exhibition in 5 Kiosks in Braga
March 29th to June 29th 2025
Before the existence of online newspapers or social media, urban kiosks were essential places for the transmission of information, collecting, and gossip, where the latest news spread across the city. However, with the new ways of consuming information, many of these kiosks have become obsolete and are now vacant.
In 2025, the year that Braga is the Portuguese Capital of Culture, the exhibition Counter-Kiosk, curated by Space Transcribers, revisits and reinterprets the legacy of five unused kiosks in Braga, transforming them into urban exhibition displays featuring artworks developed by the following artists: Emília Rigová, Hilda de Paulo, Maria Trabulo, Marta Pinto Machado, and Miguel Teodoro. The pieces presented in each kiosk are the result of artistic residencies conducted by these five artists, focused on the stories, collections, and archives of less-represented communities in the city.
